Egypt – Day 5

Farewell for now, Cairo; hello, Aswan! We were up bright and early at 4 AM, departing from the Hilton Cairo Grand Nile for our flight to Aswan. Upon arrival, we boarded our cruise ship, the MS Royal Beau Rivage bound for Luxor. We spent one night on the ship in Aswan, where we had the chance to explore the Philae Temple and the Nubian Village.

The Philae Temple, situated on Philae Island in the Nile River close to Aswan, is an impressive ancient site is dedicated to the goddess Isis and was originally built during the Ptolemaic period. It showcases breathtaking examples of ancient Egyptian architecture and artistry.

We were also able to get a taste of Nubian culture at the Nubian Village while we visited an actual Nubian house and met the Nubian owners. Nubians have a distinct culture, language, and history that dates back thousands of years. We were treated with hibiscus tea, henna tattoos and crocodile viewings. The village is known for its colorful houses, friendly inhabitants, and stunning views of the Nile River. An afternoon to remember!

After visiting the Nubian Village, we were taken to the port to board our cruise ship, the MS Royal Beau Rivage.
