Today, June 1, 2026 we experienced some of the most beautiful and historic places in Montenegro. We started by visiting the charming village of Perast, where we admired its elegant Baroque architecture and the impressive Cathedral of St. Nicholas as we strolled along the waterfront.
Then, just off the coast, we took a short trip out to the island of Our Lady of the Rocks. We stepped inside the historic church there, built in 1632, and explored its fascinating interior, taking in the artwork and the stories behind this unique islet.
After that, we continued on to the stunning town of Kotor. We took in breathtaking views of its medieval city walls and the 12th-century Cathedral of St. Tryphon. Walking through the Old Town, we soaked up the atmosphere of this beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site and learned about its rich history from our local guide.
Some facts:
- Our Lady of the Rocks and has a collection of 68 paintings, including The Death of the Virgin
- Kotor is a very well-preserved medieval town
- The Madonna dello Scalpello Baroque church, is set on its own small island in the Bay of Kotor
This was an unforgettable day where every view, every stop, and every moment felt like something out of a postcard.
